MEET RUSTY

For over 50 years, Rusty has lived in Chaffee County. Watching it change and grow over the years, he devotes his time, talent, and expertise in creating a thriving community.

After graduating from Colorado State University in Fort Collins with a bachelor's degree in business, Rusty began his career as an asset accountant for the Standard Oil Company of California in 1980. After two years, Rusty had the opportunity to return to Salida, and worked for the family owned Salida Motors Auto and Truck franchise until it sold in 2002.

With Rusty's economic skills, business experience, and financial expertise, he was drawn to helping people develop their own financial security by owning homes and starting their own businesses. As a commercial lender, mortgage lender, and market president for local banks, Rusty has not only seen Chaffee County grow; he is an instrumental contributor to the growth and vitality throughout the valley.

Believing public service is a way to give back to the community in which he lives, Rusty has devoted his life to service to the community in many ways.

Currently, Rusty and his wife, Tangie, own commercial and residential rental properties. They believe housing must be affordable for those who live here, and this is why their rental prices are fair and under the current market prices of other rental properties.

It is Rusty's 27 years of experience and leadership

as a local business owner and manager, his knowledge of government policy, human relations, and understanding the uniqueness of the valley that will serve the people of Chaffee County with continued responsible growth.

Rusty Granzella is a second-generation native of Salida. Family and preservation of Chaffee County’s history is important to remember. Married to Tangie for thirty-two years, Rusty and his wife have raised three children, Heather, Dakota, and Dillon. And now, they are finding great joy in watching the 4th Chaffee County generation grow and develop in a place they love - their 2 year-old grandson, Kashton.

Rusty’s history in Salida begins with his grandfathers traveling separately by boat from Italy. They arrived in America at Ellis Island in 1910. Ranching, Dairy Farming, and working the rails at the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, the family laid roots in Salida respectfully between 1910 and 1918. The Granzella legacy continued with Danny Granzella, owner of Salida Motors, a veteran, and one who loved his community deeply.

Fast-forward a century, the love for the valley and its success runs through Rusty’s veins. With an eye on history, Rusty is the catalyst for the future and a filter from the past that integrates history, experience, and wisdom to keep the valley alive, beautiful, neighborly, and always safe.
